Facilities Mechanic II in Albuquerque, NM

Summary:

Curia provides global contract research and manufacturing services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.

The Facilities Mechanic II performs routine maintenance tasks on industrial equipment such as HVAC systems, water purification systems, air compressors, low pressure steam systems, and sterilizers. Able to read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and technical manuals. Must be able to clearly and accurately document all work performed using electronic work order systems. Must be self-accountable and able to verbally communicate transparently and with a high level of integrity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Knowledgeable in 2 or more of the following areas and proficient in trouble shooting and repair in 1 area: Electrical, Hydraulic, Pneumatics, Mechanical, PLC

  • Inspect, repair, and maintain building systems and production support equipment.

  • Performs maintenance and repair tasks in any of the following areas; electrical, heating and refrigeration (HVACr), hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, electronic systems, and general trades skills.

  • Ability to review maintenance SOPs and Preventive maintenance programs and recommends improvement.

  • Understands and utilizes technical documents while troubleshooting intermediately complex systems.

  • Works cooperatively with and maintains relationships with employees and other professionals.

  • Interfaces with external vendors to coordinate maintenance activities.

  • Supports more senior level staff during troubleshooting and investigations.

  • Follows cGMPs, SOPs, and complies with all safety requirements while performing during all activities.

  • Attends meetings and participates on committees as required.

  • Works overtime as needed.

  • Documents work performed on work orders.

  • Completes routine PMs by the assigned due dates.

  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed by the immediate supervisor.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Minimum of 3 years of related experience in a maintenance setting.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

Proficient in the use of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access, as this individual will perform work within these systems on a routine basis.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Able to maintain gown certification.

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of standard methods, practices, tools, and materials used in several maintenance trades.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the maintenance trades.

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work within established schedules.

  • Ability to complete assignments by demonstrating initiative.

  • Ability to identify emergencies and report to appropriate personnel.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with plant maintenance, engineering staff, and other departments as needed.

  • Ability to work well independently or as a team.

  • Ability to work at heights.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; explosives; risk of radiation, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
